Although it did take some convincing last night, I decided to go with Jonathan in the “early car” at 7 am along with Shalilah, Katrina and Liz (the others came a tad bit later at 8) as we headed out to Kashoba once again for another day of filming. And boy, were we about to have a crazy day.

As soon as we arrived to Kashoba, we met the Mkokos at the local Jabulah store (about a 15 minute walk from their house) to begin filming the one of our scenes. People soon began to arrive to see the spectacle and our talent, Zola, soon became a tad shy – of course boys are boys and some of the local guys were teasing him. We headed back to the house and started to film once more while all divvying up the tasks of practicing lines with the Mkokos, sharing audio roles (one for headphones and sound control and the other for sound boom), crowd control (we ALWAYS had visitors trying to see what the commotion was), producer (props to Katrina for being the best producer around!) and even several child wranglers (according to our own child model and actress Brittany, they are always needed to entertain and take care of the main talent).

To add to the excitement, we got a visit from the boys from this morning who had come on a tractor to complete some household needs. And as if we needed more, another truck – this time to replenish the water silo – paid the Mkokos a visit. Luckily, there was also another huge event going on in the village: the neighbors were celebrating the slaughter of two cows and had of course invited us over to party with them

The Mkokos did work well with us luckily until around 3 in the afternoon, when Zola just got exhausted. I mean who wouldn’t with 8 crazy students around for hours on hours, right? Soon enough, Mr. Mkoko himself decided that we wouldn’t be filming anymore for the rest of the day and deemed it beneficial if we took a break to visit the neighboring party, which was a fun mixture of marriage proposals, dancing and lots of socializing.

We soon arrived (after a short trip to Big Bend) to our old stomping grounds: the incredibly homey Lotuba Lodge. Zola is going to stay with us tonight, which should be an awesome delight!
