The NHL season is back in swing and a portion of games are around the board to get Monday night. Two matches will be up on the plank for October 7, such as a matchup between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Buffalo Sabres. Both of these teams have had opposite starts into the season, but will look to earn an win on Monday night. This match will start at 7:00 PM Eastern time tonight.
Buffalo has gotten off to a quick start to the year, going 2-0. The Sabres have tied for the second seed in the Atlantic Division together to the Detroit Red Wings and the Boston Bruins. Buffalo did not have a fantastic season last season, finishing outside the playoff picture, but will appear to continue this strong beginning to try and reach the postseason now around.
The Blue Jackets have fallen to begin this year. Columbus is the only team without a point in the Metropolitan Division, so they need to find a means to turn it around if they would like to make it back. The Blue Jackets dropped lots of players in the offseason, which has shown. Its still therefore Columbus will look to turn on Monday night.
The Jackets and the Sabres completed in opposite positions last year, but have switched places early this season. This shows the effects that NHL offseason can consume. Both teams have 80 games to play , which is a good deal of time but both teams can use a huge win on Monday night to try and get the momentum to the early areas of the season that is new.
Columbus and buffalo fulfilled up last season to a total of 3 occasions. The Blue Jackets took the first game of the year 5-4 in overtime. The game was a win by the Sabres as Conor Sheary scored the match winning goal in the third to give Buffalo a 5-4 win. Sergei Bobrovsky pitched a shutout to give Columbus a 4-0 win, although the match was hosted by Buffalo in the summer.
The Sabres have started off this year . Buffalo subsequently dominated the New Jersey Devils to a 7-2 win. Rasmus Dahlin includes a goal and three assists to lead the team points. Conor Sheary, Sam Reinhart, and victor Olofsson direct the team in goals with two.
The Blue Jackets started the period but dropped 4-1. In which they got ignored 7-2 columbus then met up with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Riley Nash leads the team in points with two assists on the year. Gustav Nyquist, cam Atkinson, and Zach Werenski would be the three goal scorers for the Blue Jackets over the season.
Buffalo has long had a strong beginning to the season on their teams. The Sabres have experienced six power play chances and have capitalized on a few of these. Buffalo was penalized seven times during the entire year, but have allowed one power play goal. The Sabres power play has been striking, but it wont stay that strong throughout this year.
Columbuss unique teams hasnt been doing nearly too. The Blue Jackets have scored on among their six power play chances. Columbuss penalty kill has allowed three goals. The Blue Jackets specific teams has been dominated through the first part of this year, which makes me think they will make both sides to try and find moving.
The Sabres power play includes a chance to put up yet another strong outing from the Blue Jackets weak punishment kill, but I do not believe that will be what happens. As I said, I think Buffalos power play will probably come back down sooner rather than later. I believe that Columbus will make the adjustments that are necessary to limit the chances which the Sabres get on Monday.
Carter Hutton will get the nod in net for Buffalo on Monday. This season has jumped into a 2-0 record. He has 46 saves on 49 shots this season for a save percentage of .939 along with also a 1.50 GAA. Hutton completed last season. He had a .908 save commission and a GAA of 3.00.
Joonas Korpisalo will likely begin for Columbus inside this matchup. Korpisalo started the very first game of the season, where he allowed four goals on 29 shots in path to a percentage of .862. Joonas Korpisalo moved 20-7-3 throughout last year. He previously had a save percentage of .897 along with a GAA of all 2.95. This can be Korpisalo time as a starter, so itll be interesting to see how he can down the stretch.
Hutton had a solid start to year but fought as the Sabres began to struggle in the season. I think he will maintain the numbers if Buffalo can continue to provide some defense facing Hutton. Korpisalo had a rough start to the summer, but he will look to bounce back to try and make the first win of the Blue Jackets season.
I believe that Columbus has got a chance to earn their first win of this season on Monday night. The Sabres have started 2-0 this season, but I dont expect them to remain undefeated for longterm. The Blue Jackets have even taken a hit leaving, but I still think they have a group. I think that they could get in the win column, if some alterations are made by Columbus to their particular teams.
BetOnline has got the Blue Jackets listed as a -111 from the money line. This means that Columbus has the small edge in this match. I think that that this line is accurate. I believe there is a great amount of value about the Blue Jackets Because Columbus is small favorites though.
